"Don’t You Dare Slow Down"

When I broke my wrist last month, I was forced to pause—literally. Suddenly, everyday tasks I did without a second thought became monumental. As I walked into the gym, arm in a cast, I turned to my friend Sophie and said, “Maybe this is the universe telling me to slow down.”

Her response? “Don’t you dare slow down.”

Her conviction hit me hard. Everything I’d read or heard this year championed the idea of “slowing down to speed up.” But Sophie’s words made me pause in an entirely different way. She wasn’t telling me to ignore rest or burn out—she was reminding me to honor my momentum, my cadence, and the way I show up for the things that matter most.

This injury wasn’t a stop sign—it was an opportunity to shift momentum. And it reminded me that staying in motion doesn’t mean running yourself ragged. It means moving with intention.
